This year Rosny College presents the Tony Award winning musical URINETOWN, a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.

In a fictional futuristic world where a 20-year drought has crippled the city's water supplies, people must pay for the "privilege to pee".

Water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on all private toilets in an effort to control water consumption. The citizens must now use the public, pay-per-use amenities owned and operated by The Urine Good Company (UGC) - a private malevolent corporation run by the corrupt Caldwell B. Cladwell. Anyone who tries to circumvent the peeing-fee by relieving themselves in the bushes risks being taken away to "Urinetown", a mysterious place where many have been sent but no one ever returns. With fee increases in the pipeline, the poor rise up under the leadership of Bobby Strong (a custodian of Public Amenity #9) to fight the tyrannical regime for the right to make the public amenities free for all to use.

Iolanthe ("eye-oh-LAN-thee") is a topsy-turvy love story involving fairies and members of the House of Lords - a political fairy tale that only Gilbert and Sullivan could conceive.

After Iolanthe, a fairy, commits the capital offence of marrying a mortal she is banished from Fairyland for life. She gives birth to their son, Strephon, who, as a result, is half mortal half fairy. After the Queen of the Fairies, who is fond of Iolanthe, agrees to pardon her, Iolanthe announces that Strephon will soon be married to Phyllis, an Arcadian shepherdess.

Problems occur when it turns out that every member of the House of Lords is also in love with Phyllis. The Lords and Phyllis happen upon a meeting between Strephon and his mother (who still looks seventeen) and the Lords convince Phyllis that Strephon is being unfaithful.

The fairies punish the Lords by sending Strephon to Parliament and casting a spell that makes all the peers pass any bill that Strephon wants...

Tasmanian Theatre Company presents SMILE, SMILE, SMILE - Pop-Up Theatre 4 - May 28 to June 4
N.B. This is a general Admission event, tickets will not be posted and can be collected from the venue approximately 1 hour before the performance. Internet sales for weeknight performances close at 4.00pm on the day of the performance. Internet Sales for the Saturday and Sunday performances will close at 1.00pm on Saturday 30th May.

It's 1916, World War I is raging across Europe and thousands young men from the far-flung reaches the Empire are leaving home to join the fray. In Tasmania Bernard Bailey's confidence is quickly eroding as three more of his travelling vaudeville troupe desert him for the Western Front.

As the remnant band of entertainers straggle into a small east coast Tasmanian town Bernard is sure his days as an impresario are numbered and he'll have to return to the grim life of selling haberdashery in the city. It's not until he encounters the resilience, creativity and never-say-die attitude of the local community that his dark clouds are turned inside out and his visit to the sleepy town turns out to be the highlight of his theatrical year.

More than a play, this is a night of true variety entertainment, designed to transport you back to the east coast of yesteryear. A larger-than-life event where professional actors and talented locals roll up their sleeves and pitch in, to pack up your troubles and give you a vaudeville community event to remember.

This production will tour the East Coast after its Hobart season. Please click here for more information.

Blue Cow Theatre Inc. presents GROUNDED - Moonah Arts Centre - June 12 & 13 AT 8.00pm
She was an F-16 pilot, a rock, a star of the sky...but now she's GROUNDED.
An ace fighter pilot's career is ended early due to an unexpected pregnancy. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer outside las vegas, she hunts terrorists by day and returns to her family each night. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols half a world away. I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE - Playhouse Theatre - July 16 to 22
This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, and to those who have dared to ask, 'What are you doing this Saturday night?'

Ten years ago this musical comedy had audiences falling in love and out of their chairs with laughter! There was even a marriage proposal on Opening Night - and the couple is still hitched! Now the same creative team is bringing back that magic for a strictly limited return season.

An outstanding ensemble cast with returning members Mandy Lowrie, Leiz Moore, Di Richards and John Xintavelonis who will be joined on stage by Josh Direen, Petr Divis, David Gilkes and Leah Venettacci - with a cracking musical combo led by Iestyn Parry.
