PLoT presents LIKE, DEAD - Peacock Theatre - August 7 to 9 and 12 to 15
Welcome to the 20th birthday party of Mark Chadwick - recently deceased. In fact, so recently that his "intimate gathering of close friends and acquaintances" don't quite know what to do with him, and what's worse, his party's an absolute fizzer. Still, one mustn't let a little thing like death get in the way of a good time...

"Like, Dead" is a darkly surreal comedy complete with all the works: "Music! Glitz! Glamour! ...Streamers!" and everything in between. Throw in a dead cat, an 80's revival dance sequence and a healthy dose of cannibalism, and get ready for one of the strangest parties you will ever attend. With a heady mix of humour laced with pathos, “Like, Dead” explores concepts of image, sex, race and identity within the most death defying culture of them all - youth. What does it mean to be immortal? To be Australian? To be alive?

Hobart Rep presents ON OUR SELECTION - Playhouse Theatre - August 14 to 29
Before The Castle there was On Our Selection. This much-loved Australian play tells the uproarious story of the iconic Aussie battlers, Dad, Dave, Jim, Mum, Sarah and Kate. We even have a bush band to provide some of the foot-tapping music of the day!

Join us for a night of nostalgic fun where we revisit a simpler Australia; where a bloke knew how to stand by his cobbers and a sheila was a good sort who knew how to run the farm as well as the family. It was a time of incredible hardship and unbeatable courage as well as irrepressible good humour and spirit.

Tas Theatre Company - SEX WITH STRANGERS - Peacock Theatre - Sept 16 to 19
Trapped in a rural writer's retreat by a snowstorm, serious writer turned professor, Olivia (Tottie Goldsmith) is settling down to write her second novel, which she hopes will be more successful than her first. In from the snow walks Ethan (Samuel Johnson), a brash, handsome, highly successful, Y-Generation blog writer with aspirations of literary legitimacy. Olivia succumbs to his obvious charm and seemingly poetic soul. But can love really bloom between an old-school book lover and a man whose publicity-generating exaggerated tell-all memoir "Sex with Strangers" chronicles his rambunctious sex-ploits on an internet blog?

First staged by Chicago's Steppenwolf theatre in 2011, and more recently at the STC and off-Broadway (starring Anna Gunn of Breaking Bad fame), this is story telling at its best. Dark, sexy and funny Sex with Strangers delves into the lives of two people equally capable of ambition, kindness and cruelty. Sex with Strangers makes timely and insightful observations about the foibles of first impressions and about love and relationships in the digital age.

How far will Olivia and Ethan go to get what they want?

HALLOWEEN ULTIMATE HIGH TEA FOR HOPE Raising Funds For Building of Hope, Leukaemia Foundation
Ultimate Halloween for Hope High Tea 2015 (formerly known as Ultimate Lolly Banquet's Annual High Tea) is now in its 3rd year.

The high tea was originally started by Katrina Driessen (business owner of Ultimate Lolly Banquet) back in 2013 to celebrate her business' 1st birthday. Not wanting to make it all the business Katrina wanted to raise money for a charity.

The Leukaemia Foundation was the charity chosen due to a close family friend and also a close family member both passing away from blood cancer.

The Leukaemia Foundation does not receive ongoing government funding and relies heavily on community events (such as the High Tea) being held. And the best thing is the money raised in Tasmania stays here in Tasmania to help Tasmanian families.

In the past financial year, Tasmanians spent 380 nights away from home in one of the Leukaemia Foundation's accommodation units in Melbourne.

This year the money raised will be going to Building of Hope. It is a goal for The Leukaemia Foundation in Tasmania to raise enough money for a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment as part of the Building of Hope.

How the Leukaemia Foundation changes lives in Tasmania...
For many living in Tasmania, diagnosis means they must move quickly to Melbourne for treatment and may need to stay for several months (average treatment is eight months). In reality, this means leaving work, school and family commitments with often little or no notice at all to commence treatment.
